The Proposal

The Proposal

April and Trey had been dating for about two years when Trey decided to pop the big question. He started with picking the perfect ring. If you want to know a little about the ring scroll to the bottom! Once Trey had the ring in hand, he knew that the next step would be asking for April’s hand. This part was slightly tricky as Trey didn’t want the secret to be given away to April, or her parents prematurely. Luckily for Trey, he had an accomplice, none other than the maid of honor herself, Sophie! She helped him to quietly schedule time with the bride’s parents, and after a particularly stressful, but ultimately rewarding lunch with Mr. and Mrs. Floersh, Trey received their blessing.
That evening, Trey took April out on a date that seemed like any other date at first, except that Trey was completely preoccupied. The couple started dinner with a glass of wine at the bar, and April attempted to make conversation, with very little luck, Trey was way too nervous to notice her! The couple was escorted to their table for dinner. After being seated, Trey immediately handed April an absurdly large gift bag with a small key inside. As April lifted the key out he proclaimed, in his most dramatic tone, “That… is the key… to my heart!” To which April instantly responded (in her best, no nonsense voice), “Ok… but is this the key to your house?” (It was!) In the next split second Trey dropped down on one knee, pulled the ring from his pocket, and said nothing more than, “Will you marry me?” By this point, April was taken completely by surprise. She smiled, and obviously said “Yes!” Trey put the ring box on the table and the ring on April’s finger. As Trey stood up, the waiter came around the corner and told the couple he was going to review the menu, so Trey instinctively sat right back down. The thoughtful waiter proceeds to review each item on the menu (yep, Trey was too nervous to wait until the end of the meal like most people do!) while shifting between looking at the couple, and a ring box on the table. When he finished explaining the menu, he paused then said, “I ruined it didn’t I?” The couple had a good laugh with the waiter and Trey exclaimed, “No, it’s ok I’m pretty sure she said yes!” And April responded,”Of course!” After sitting patiently for what seemed like an eternity, the couple stood up to celebrate their engagement with an embrace, champagne was popped, and Trey was finally able to breathe again.

About the Ring

Flowers have always been particularly meaningful for the couple. Living so far apart has limited their opportunity to share holidays together. April loves flowers, so being the wonderful guy he is, Trey always sends them to her on holidays, special occasions, and sometimes just because he thinks she needs flowers. The design of April’s engagement ring is meant to resemble a basket used for picking wildflowers in a garden. The stone is a princess cut. Why a princess cut? Because April is the princess of course!
